Rev. Albert Ocran: A Modern Day Business 'Prophet'

Albert@52

Have you paid attention to the business predictions made by Rev. Albert Ocran? Many of them are already happening. On his birthday today, I want us to look at three of his predictions made through his talks, books and programmes and how we can still take advantage of them. Rev. Albert is a minister, executive coach, author, and speaker.

Prediction #1: Talent
Ever since he personally had an encounter with a friend who told him to pay much attention to his talent of speaking, Rev. Albert has developed his talent to the level where he is one of the most sought after trainers and speakers in Ghana. He has taught talent to all age ranges; from teenagers to top business executives. Furthermore, he has used the power of radio to educate the nation about talent and also written on the subject as well captured in 5 Talent Mentality.

Even before COVID-19, he has been speaking and writing about the great importance of talent discovery, development and deployment. Rev. Albert is truly clearing the way for people to see clearly that God does not give us talent to sleep on it but unearth it for the world to enjoy every bit of it. Some day in the future, many of us will look back and agree with him that he was predicting a massive revolution in the arena of talent.

“This is the time where your talent comes in as a gift of God and a buffer for you. If you do not rebuild your personal economic model, you could find yourself marginalised and disadvantaged. And yet your biggest asset from God could be lying idle.”
-- Albert & Comfort Ocran

Prediction #2: Jobs
The second area of prediction that Rev. Albert has dwelt on is jobs. The Springboard Your Virtual University on Joy 99.7 FM took more than a month to dissect the World Economic Forum’s The Future of Jobs Report to help empower people about what lies ahead. As if he was John the Baptist crying out in the desert about massive job losses, I am sure few people paid heed to these programmes and girded their loins.

People take these programmes as mere motivational speculations without real effects but COVID-19 has given us a little taste of how many workers can lose their jobs in just a day. So the question is: who deserved to go and who deserved to stay? Rev. Ocran answered that a major requirement is possessing multiple skills.

“Having a wide range of skills has great benefits, especially in a competitive situation like a job interview, appointment or promotion contest for which there are a number of equally-matched candidates. It provides that extra edge that can give you that advantage and help you go on to achieve your dreams.”
-- Albert & Comfort Ocran

Prediction #3: Technology
The last important prediction by Rev. Albert has been about how technology will both be an enabler and a disruption of the way we live our lives, do business and even organise church. His firm belief in technology has led him to organise programmes on how technology could be used in service delivery, health, education, church, personal branding, and others.

We see before our very eyes how in the era of COVID-19 the way technology has helped churches to reach out to members and preach to millions online. Ignorance of technology will be very deadly.

“In a rapidly changing world, change or die. Reinvent or die. The emerging trends tend to disqualify people who are not ready to reinvent themselves. If you are not moving in tandem with the world, then you will be totally extinct.”
-- Rev. Albert Ocran

Rev. Albert Ocran

On this birthday of Rev. Albert Ocran, I want us to start paying serious attention to the predictions he makes about personal and business developments. There are people who will not take heed and experience the worst. Talent, jobs, and technology are important areas undergoing massive changes and so we must arm ourselves to take advantage of them.
