Do Your Work Well

Set out to do your work well

It was Thursday. As I was wrapping up at work in order to be part of the weekly Springboard Alumni Hangout on Zoom Webinar, I got a call from Comfort Ocran, Executive Director of Springboard Road Show Foundation. In a nutshell, the Foundation wanted me to share my experience as a regular participant of the Webinar and how it has impacted me. The weekly webinar has treated topics such as talent, finance, technology, and living in a changing world. I gladly accepted to share my experience.

This whole experience of being called to share my thoughts taught me 3 key lessons about how we should treat the work of our hands.

Join me as I explore them:

#1. Take Your Work Serious
Be serious about what you do

Life has taught me that in whatever I do, I must do it with all diligence. I was called to share my experience as a blogger and podcaster who started this journey after listening to the talent series by Rev. Albert Ocran on the Springboard Webinar. Do you think if I was doing it anyhow I would have been called? Certainly, not!

Whatever the Lord has given to you, be serious about it. In 5 Talent Mentality, Albert & Comfort Ocran posited that everyone has a God-given talent. That talent you may be neglecting can be the cornerstone of fulfillment, wealth and influence. Indeed, the wise King Solomon said that whatever your hands find to do, do it with all diligence (Ecclesiastes 9:10). My first lesson from the Springboard call to share my experience is that I must be serious about my idea, talent or business I am pursuing.

#2. Someone Is Watching
Your work is always being watched

Someone is always watching what you are doing. The Springboard call taught me that at every point in our life's journey, someone somewhere is watching and observing what we are doing. Some watch to condemn but many others also watch to be inspired and encourage you on. My Springboard call was to urge me on to do more.

The Bible says in Matthew 6 that if we do things in the secret, our heavenly Father, who sees, will reward us openly. There are many days you sow in tears but you shall soon reap in joy if you faint not. As you sow your talent or idea thinking no one is watching, know that God is watching you. Never feel you are alone. Good people are watching who will recommend you to those who matter.

#3. Someone Will Recognize You
Recognition comes to people who work hard

The final lesson is about recognition. When I received the call from Springboard, I knew it was a first step to being called into recognition. If what I was doing was not worth it, I wouldn't have been called in the first place.

Many of us quit before we are recognised for our inventions, ideas, talents, knowledge and work. We feel because no one is watching, it's not worth pursuing. The book of Proverbs 18:16 says a man's gift will make room for him and bring him before kings and mighty men. A friend of mine won a grant worth $5,000 to support his tech initiatives he has been pursuing. Make your talent and gift count. I am not advocating for you to pursue and run after recognition. I am advocating for you to do your work well, with all diligence!

Keep working on your idea by working hard at it, you may never know who is watching!
