If you are going to survive and succeed in your work during COVID-19, you must develop certain skill sets to put you on the high path of achievement. In this time of uncertainty, many are losing their jobs and businesses. So if you are blessed to have a job, don't joke with it but do it so well that you become indispensable.
Below are skills you need to develop:
#1. Multiple Skills
In this time when many people are losing their jobs, you must develop multiple skills to become useful and versatile in any environment. That's not to say you must be Jack of all trades and master of none; rather, you must learn multiple key skills to help you adapt anywhere. In my job as Pastor and church administrator, I have skills such as writing, speaking, teaching, and preaching to help me succeed. There is virtually everything you can learn from the internet. Don't be limited. Venture out and learn new skills.
#2. People Skills
Be good at relating with people if you truly want to keep your job and advance. People are like elevators; they can either take you up or bring you down. Learn to keep good relationships by investing quality time and giving valuable help to people. People can help you get to where you want to go in life. Sometimes all you need is one person to connect you and then everything falls in its place. American businessman and motivational speaker Nido Qubein suggested that we must keep a list of 100 key people we must constantly keep in touch with.
#3. Technology Skills
A very important skill we must all learn and master is technology skill. By this I am not just saying knowing about social media and posting experiences. There is a way to learn how to use technology to market your personal and business brands. For instance, people are creating Facebook pages to market and sell products for free. Have apps that can help make life simple and help you accomplish many things in less time. On blogging, I have an app that has basic knowledge about blogging that includes setting up, writing, increasing traffic and monetizing your writing. Founding editor of African Celebrities website, Chris-Vincent Agyapong said that he used his
Facebook page to get high level clients for his law firm who pay a lot of money. You can turn technology for your advantage.
Now the ball is in your court. It's not enough to have a job. We have to strive to survive and succeed. The marketplace is now like a jungle. We must survive and succeed through developing enduring skills.
