Episodes of Living: Comfort Ocran - Celebrating A Woman of Substance

Today is the birthday of Mrs. Comfort Ocran, a woman of substance who has dedicated herself to raising the next generation of leaders. Having worked with her for many years, I have first hand experience of her ability to take raw people and help them to become refined and better.

Below are my thoughtful respelling of C-O-M-F-O-R-T and what each letter stands for.

In the book of Proverbs 31, one mark of the virtuous woman is that she is creative and enterprising. Comfort is creative in co-starting interventions like Springboard and Legacy & Legacy to empower and train the next generation of business leaders with competence and integrity. God has graced her with this ability.

She has created several opportunities for ordinary people like me to learn and become aware of the gold in us and pursue them. She sees gold from afar and gathers all the tools required to dig it out. I was raw when I entered their organisations but by grace and her leadership, my life is turning out well. She is a woman who creates opportunities for other people to grow.

Wow, she has mentored teenagers, students, young executives and top executives in Ghana and beyond. Her mentoring comes across as a mother with a strong hand of a coach. Where you need to be corrected, you will never get it wrong. I think she perfectly fits in what the Bible says spare the rod and spoil the child. Her mentorship does not spare the rod whilst also encouraging and cheering you when you get it right.

Awesome! Having worked closely, I have seen her mother role in action as well as her family role. She does not pursue success and achievement to the detriment of her family. She has pursued a balance life by all standard. I have observed her to learn how she does it. She is a family woman.

Oh my God, this one is massive! Mrs. Ocran gets it all correct. She has an eye for excellent things so no stone is left unturn. At every event, she is not an armchair manager just giving instructions but also in the field making things work. And I tell you, she has energy and passion for what she does.

For Mrs. Ocran, relationship is key in whatever she does. She keeps long term relationships. When you work with her, it's not just employer and employee but colleagues. She will gladly create a relationship to get things going. And she will be there for you when you need her.

The last word is Trainer. She trains like a football coach who has played all the matches you are about to play. She is like Jesus and the 12 disciples. She will be by your side and train you on how to get things done. She stretches you to do your best knowing what potential you have in you. She has trained people across all ages in the marketplace.
