This morning, my wife and I started a journey as part of our morning fellowship which will go beyond one year practice. Aside reading the Bible for our morning devotion, I took inspiration from Voddie Baucham to start reading and discussing R. C. Sproul of blessed memory's book Now, That's A Good Question! This is a fascinating book that seeks to bring clarity to more than 300 frequently asked questions about life and faith. It's theologically, biblically and doctrinally sound for edification. I could have read it all by myself but Voddie teaches in his book Family Driven Faith that aside the Bible, they read and discuss good Christian books.
As a Pastor and Church Administrator, the work sometimes become very engaging to the extent that you focus more on other sheep than the immediate sheep God has given to you to tend and care for. My wife, until our children come, is my primary sheep to feed and tend. A failure to grow together spiritually and biblically will spell doom for the generation coming. Another point is that instead of complaining that Christians are not doctrinally sound, why don't we start in our own homes. Start with our families. Get them into the habit of praying, Bible reading and discussing. Take key lessons and kick start the process of activating them in our lives. Where do we go from here? Well, it's a long road to walk on. We must bring our families along where we are going. What shall it profit a man of God if he knows everything about ministry, theology, preaching and discipleship but fails to impart these virtues into his spouse and children? Obviously, the devil likes to use the family as a playground if it is left undisciplined. What about you who is not married? Take heart. Start with your friends or your family you are staying with.
Let's allow Matthew 28 to give us the final word. It says that we should make disciples of the nations by teaching them to observe all that Christ has taught us. Take your family and friends along by reading the Bible, praying and reading Christian books to mature in Christ.
