WINNING & LOSING

He who has lost once never takes things for granted

Before the black stars of Ghana played their first match at the ongoing World Cup at Brazil with US, it was talk of town that we will level the Americans because we have scored them twice. In our unchecked complacency, we failed to realize that there is a principle that says that success teaches, failure instructs. Whilst we were thinking that the match was going to be easy win for us, the Americans were strategizing and training hard to beat us. And, at the end, the proof of their work showed in their results.

At least after playing with US we learnt that until we put on the garment of hard work, we will be kicked out of the tournament. Truly, our match against Germany proved that we had done our homework. You see, the difference between winning and losing is the ability to work hard to get things done. The Bible says that those who do not work must not eat. Interpretation: until you sweat, you don’t have a part in enjoyment.

Listening to the late BBC World Service broadcaster Komla Dumor on Springboard 2013 Road Show at Koforidua, he said that when he got the opportunity to be at BBC, he worked very hard so much that many things were thrown his way to do. He never said he had arrived. No! Don’t wait to be beaten before you put in your best to win. Enjoy your day.
