WHAT I DID ON MY BIRTHDAY

Life is not about how long you live but how well you live.

(Dr. Myles Munroe.)

It’s a law of life that if you are alive, another year will be added to your age. It’s good to be alive!

On my birthday on 30th March 2013, I decided to go silent and not tell anyone about it and be with myself asking some quality questions. There were two questions I grappled with for long: One, how long will I live? That’s about duration. Two, how well will I live? This is also about donation. While duration may benefit only yourself, donation is service to others. Duration is not for me to decide. You can plan for a billion years but God’s purpose will stand. Let’s focus on donation which we have control over. (By the way, these thoughts were inspired by a Dr. Munroe message I listened.)

How Well Will You Live?
Life is not found in the abundance of years you live on earth but the abundance of years you make the earth a better place to live in by deploying your gifts and talents. Thus, on my birthday, I thought deep about what my life should stand for and the impact I will leave behind. This left a lasting impression and urgent call on me.

I settled on becoming the best of what I do writing and motivating others to build their personal and professional capacities to reach peak service in their chosen field. I want to throw the same challenge to you. Don’t even wait for your birthday to do this exercise. Sit down right now, grab a pen and a paper or any gadget and write this important question down: How well will I live with the rest of my life? If you find it difficult answering this question, look deep into your life and redefine what you are doing now. When you find it, start living it. I believe you can do it! May you be changed.
