BE VALUABLE

As far as your personal value is low, it will pull your personal worth down.
If there is any person who believes in the power of adding value to yourself, it is Michael Ohene-Effah, author and motivational speaker and political officer at the British High Commission Ghana. I met Michael for a business meeting last year when the discussion about adding value popped up. He said, “The reason why the cost of orange juice is higher than that of the raw orange is value addition.” Good point to note. The analogy is true for our personal lives. The great differentiator between your manager and you is just one word - value. Your value determines your promotion and salary. It separates one graduate from the other. It separates one brand from the other. It certainly separates one pastor or motivational speaker from another.
It is possible to desire value and achieve it. I listened to the late business philosopher Jim Rohn said that if someone earns more than you do, you can earn as much too. Here are three tips on how to raise your value for personal and professional worth.
Personal Value Comes From Within. In school, we used to think that people are paid more and move faster on the career ladder because of more schooling. Wrong! Much research has shown me that your value stems from your inner strength. What you can truly do well and amase the world. It can be planning, organizing, speaking, managing, and more.
Personal Value Comes From Personal Development. It’s been said that many people want to go to heaven but none wants to die. Very true! People want to climb the success ladder but not renew their mind. The day you start taking absolute charge of what is in your head is the day you will start climbing the value ladder. Read or listen to something new each day.
Personal Value Comes With Time. We live in a fast-paced world. People think change must be overnight just like sending a text message. It doesn’t work that way. It takes patience to see fruits from a seed planted. The production of fruit juice from raw orange goes through stages and time.
You cannot blame others for how much you are worth. As far as your personal value is low, it will pull your personal worth down. Strive to raise your personal value and you will become attractive like the orange juice over the raw orange. May you be changed!
