YOUR BIGGEST DREAM

Your dream is like a space that you grow to fill.
Growing up in the village, the biggest dream I had was to travel to Accra. I worked hard and succeeded when in October 2002 I landed in Accra for my Senior High School (SHS) and university educations. In SHS, my dream was to become a mechanical engineer. By my tertiary education years, I wanted to travel abroad to seek greener pastures. Today, I have neither become a mechanical engineer nor traveled abroad. I don’t fancy them anymore. I have a dream and desire to write to impact the world.

I’m sure you have heard it said severally that you must have a big dream. Seriously, have you taken steps to have one? The place of a dream in your life is indispensable. Your dream is like a space that you grow to fill. If it is small, you will fill it. If it is big, you will likewise fill it.

The following two people are living to fill their big dreams. They were born into small dreams but have defied the odds to have big dreams for their nations and the world.

LIONEL MESSI: He is the fourth time achiever of the highest football award, the Ballon D’Or. In his speech after taking the award, the 25-year old Argentine said, “Winning the world cup is what is missing. The truth is, yes, I would swap a Ballon D’Or for the world cup, I’ve always felt like that. Nothing compares with being world champion”. He continued, “I want to achieve things with Barcelona and with my country, which I’ve always said is my dream.” Messi’s biggest dream is not the world best player award for himself but the world cup for his nation.

ROLAND AGAMBIRE: Would you dream again if you were employing 6,000 people and a CEO of a group of companies? Many of us will say that we have done our best and retire young. That is not the case for Ghanaian-born head of rLG Communications. At the recently held National Youth Award, he pledged his commitment to employ 1 million people in the next 5 years. Roland’s biggest dream is not personal but national. It’s to get more people to work.

...AND YOU? What is your biggest dream? Is what you are doing now all you can offer to the world? You might not be a footballer like Messi or an ICT guru like Roland, but I believe there is a dream lying dormant for your picking and pursuit. It is not enough to have a job. It is not enough to have a family. It is not enough to have a car or a house. Dream big, earn big and let the world feel your impact. God loves you!
