You must live the way not only show the way.
They do not only serve as symbols of speakers, events executers, authors and business trainers but motivational doers as well. They don’t talk the way without walking it. Over the past years that I have come to know them from afar through their books and volunteered closely with them for some of their major conferences, Albert and Comfort Ocran have taught me timeless lessons that speak strongly in their own lives. In this article I share four traits that the couple teach and practice that each one of us must resolve to inculcate in our everyday life.
LEADERSHIP: In this era when many people believe that unless they are voted into power they cannot make impact, Albert and Comfort show the way that you can make significant impact by leading in your area of calling. Albert has said on countless occasions that his two gifts are writing and speaking and he pursues them with all his guts. What’s your place of leadership in your company or your country? Where do you function so effectively that no one can replace you? I found mine in writing. I am continually practicing to become the best at it. You too can.
EXCELLENCE: During the 2012 Springboard Roadshow, Albert charged the audience to make a decision to make anything they touch excellent. In Ghana, it is rare to find companies and even churches that preach excellence and operate with excellence. The reason why Legacy & Legacy, their human development organisation, is a leading firm is that they commit to the small things that many others overlook. Prior to conferences volunteers are trained to deliver the best of excellent service. Excellence is to take care of the little things that others overlook.
INNOVATION: Each year the couple stretch the frontiers of what they do whether writing, speaking or conferencing. They add a little touch to their conferences each year. They do not leave things to chance. This lesson teaches me that it is not enough to lead in your industry. You have to outdo yourself. Their packages are always improved through innovative ideas.
GOD: When the Christian magazine Kharis focused on the subject of doing business with godly values in today’s marketplace, they featured Albert and Comfort for the subject. The article traced how they started their business with God and how they have still stuck with Him. Fame has a way of making you think that it is by your might or power, but the Bible says that it by the Spirit of God. They reflect the command by Jesus to be the salt and light of the world.
Which of these traits of exemplary living do you show in your life? It is not enough to say you are a leader, excellent, innovative and Christian. It is not enough to write them as your company values. It is not enough to move from one platform to the other preaching all these values but you yourself fall short. You must live the way not only show the way. God loves you!
