CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND CONTROL

You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of. Jim Rohn, business philosopher.
Workers say it. Politicians say it. Businessmen say it. And students say it too. It’s one common expression which is used to dish out doses of excuses for not being able to achieve a task, a goal, or a dream. Anyone who prefixes a report with due to circumstances beyond my control goes ahead to have a negative report. If you are one who likes to use this expression, don’t lose heart. You can have a change of mind and control in life.

I am not proposing that there will be a time in your life when you will be in control of whatever happens to you. No! I believe that you can master your game to learn how to turn every circumstance to your advantage. Here are the 3 strategies I use.

1. Mindset: I always look for the good in everything. I ask a simple question: What is the good in this for me? The Bible says all things work together for our good.
2. Decision: I decide which option to take. At stage 1, you will get a list of good options. Never think of using all at a go. Decide on only three.
3. Action: Action breeds progress. A thousand intentions cannot equal a single action. Action changes everything including what’s in for you. Take action on one decision at a time.

Caution: It takes time for these ideals to be realized in life. Don’t be anxious to see results overnight.
I believe from this week forward your report about circumstances will change. I believe when you have a shift in mindset, decision and action, you will start to sense that circumstances are below your control. Be in charge!
