Make all you can, save all you can, give all you can. John Wesley.
I know it’s annoying to ask such a question. But I still want to reiterate: why do you want to be rich? Is it for fame, to buy mansions, jet, cars, or what?
There is a parable in Luke 12:13-21that is typical of people who don’t think about why they want to be rich before they get to be rich. Jesus said a rich man had so much that he didn’t know what to use it for. He decided to pull down old properties and build brand new ones. His end was death. If you don’t know why you want to be rich, your money will kill you.
The following are three wise rich men who know why they made money (Source: Forbes Billionaire List).
1. Carlos Slim Helu: He is the richest man on earth. One of the many things he’s doing is launching digital libraries in under privilege communities. People in these communities around the world can check out computers and build their technical skill set.
2. Bill Gates: The most generous person on the planet. He's given away $28 billion already and helped eradicate polio in India. In January, the country announced its first polio-free year.
3. Warren Buffet: The third richest person, he announced a plan to give away his fortune to charity, with 83% of it going to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
It’s the poor and unwise who conceal what they make. If you don’t have a plan for channeling your potential money to help others, it will become a monster which will eat you up. Don’t wait to get money before you plan. Plan before you acquire it. Ask yourself this week: what will I use my riches for?
